Crafted in India, this antique box was designed in very simple form, having an oval shape, with a tiered, hinged lid that houses a nicely shaped, swing handle with starburst escutcheons. This small antique case was designed to store betel nuts which were traditionally chewed as a digestive stimulant and mild narcotic.
