Caviar20 is pleased to be offering another example of one of David Hockney's photographs from his famed 1976 portfolio.
David Hockney (b. 1937) had an interesting relationship with photography- both using it as a tool and simultaneously subverting and pushing the boundaries of the medium.
Most notably, from the 70's until the early 80's Hockney experimented and produced a wide body of photo-based work including his highly innovative photo-collages, called "Joiners".
This work, which is from the portfolio "Twenty Photographic Pictures, 1976" Hockney delights in sharing one of his favorite subjects: California. Pictured here is a chic Malibu beachfront property. The details reveal both the stylish interior, evocative of a luxury interior of the era, and contrasted with the dramatic surf.
